Sala Geo Information Systems Private Limited launched a Global positioning system which will help  users to  find and navigate any address in Sri Lanka.

The service which is launched under the name of “Sala ProSat” will also provide other benefits such as guidelines for travelers to find the shortest and the fastest route.

The Sala GPS system entails 100,000 important landmarks and points of interest such as Fuel Stations, ATMs, Banks, Hospitals, Hotels, Parks and Police Stations etc.

Managing Director of Sala Geo Information Systems Chinthaka Wijewickrama said, the launch of this satellite-based navigation system will help Sri Lanka conquer new frontiers in travel.

In case of any unexpected traffic congestion or obstacles on the way, the GPS System will instantly find and offer the best alternative route to travelers.

This system is also designed to provide trip data, such as the present speed, the average speed of the overall trip, idling time, movement direction, altitude above the sea level and many more parameters.

Great news! How does one get access to this? Is it a matter of buying a map and loading it on to your GPS device like elsewhere in the world?

It is a great news. Even though it is late but still a good news. Hope it is affordable.

    Hi,
Well, this is a licensed device including the software. Well, tha hardware and software are provided together, since we do not sell them separately..

NO, you need to buy from SALA,

The 3.5 inch Sala ProSat GPS unit is for sale for 35,000 rupees, the 4.3 inch unit is available for 42,000 rupees, while the 5.0 inch unit would cost 49,000 rupees,

  5. Shane says:

Why would I need to buy a GPS unit if I already have one ? I should be able to buy the Sri Lankan map and down load directly to my existing unit as is done everywhere else in the world !

Might be a good idea to review the option of selling the maps separately to those who wnat only the map

Having said this, I must say well done…this has been a damn long time comming…good show guys
