Sri Lankan Airlines today announced that it is planning to come out with wide ranging expansion projects, thus helping the entity to become a profit making venture from the current loss making status.
The announcement comes in the wake of Airline’s plans to celebrate 31 years of existence tomorrow.
A special function has been organized in Katunayake to mark the occasion.
The national carrier further said it will expand its fleet of aircrafts, expand the route network, upgrade passenger comfort and further diversify into related areas of activity.
Sri Lankan Airlines Group recorded a loss of Rs. 4 billion during the 2009 / 2010 financial year thus recording a net loss of Rs. 6.03 billion compared to previous years Rs. 9.99 billion.
The Airline says during the year 2009 / 2010 the group losses were slashed by almost Rs. 4 billion by reducing the operational expenditures from Rs. 84.40 billion to Rs. 69.28 billion.
The Airlines Unit Cost, Passenger Load Factor and the Overall Load Factor performance has seen an improvement during the 2009 / 2010 financial year.
