A Chinese delegation representing the country’s Industry Association of Manufactures of weighing machines is currently touring Sri Lanka, looking for investment opportunities.
The Board of Investment says the delegation consist representatives from 28 Chinese companies which are engaged in manufacturing weighing machines.
A BOI Spokesperson said the Chinese delegation was keen on finding out the potential of exploring the Indian market using Sri Lanka as a base.
Under the Indo-Lanka FTA, Sri Lankan exporters can export large number of items to the neighboring giant at concessionary duty structure.
During the year 2011, Chinese investors have invested US$ 10.4 million in Sri Lanka.
