Sri Lanka says it will re-impose just over a two hour power cut in many parts of the country including the city of Colombo  during tomorrow’s day time. (Wednesday).

Ministry of Power and Energy says, power cuts will be imposed in 58 main cities and adjoining areas of those cities.

In some of the areas, power cuts will be imposed from 8.30 am to 10.45 am while in some areas, electricity consumers will experience black outs from 10.45 am to 1.00 pm.

Ministry of Power and Energy says, a failure in a transmission line which connects the country’s only coal power plant with the national grid is the main cause for the intended black outs.

As a result, the country’s only coal power plant is not being operated thus the national grid losing 300 Megawatts of electricity.
