Asia Capital PLC which saw a turnaround during the financial year ended on March 2010 by recording a net profit of Rs. 222 million is planning to enter the non-core business areas in the financial services industry.
According to the Company Chairman M. Nanayakkara Asia Capital is planning to invest in entities which are fundamentally strong or the ones that require attention, both financially and management-wise.
Asia Capital which made profits during the 2009 / 2010 financial year made a loss of Rs. 379.2 million during the year that ended on March 2009.
The financial firm before the turnaround was facing difficulties since 2007, which resulted in a new management taking over the firm along with the new Chairman.
The Company’s core business areas are Stock broking, Investment Banking, Insurance, Credit and Deposit Mobilization.
