Colombo Stock Exchange saw its main index gaining over 2% as there were interest for both retail and value counters, which brokers say is healthy for the market.

ASPI ended the day at a range of 5,420 points while the Milanka Price Index gained 2.88% to end up at 4,733 points.

The market turnover reached Rs. 1. 5 billion for the day, a 38% increase over the previous day, with index heavy weight JKH contributing Rs. 231 million to the total sum.

Volumes traded increased by 112.8% to 84 million with Blue Diamonds non-voting dominating the list with 20 million shares.

JKH, Commercial Bank, Ascot Holdings, DIMO and Aitken Spence shares observed crossings during the day.

There was a net foreign inflow of Rs. 449 million during the day.
