A delegation from Estonia, who toured Sri Lanka during last week has explored trade and investment opportunities in areas such as, maritime, railways, infrastructure, defense and tourism.
The 24 member delegation, which was headed by Vaino Reinart, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Estonia has held meetings with Sri Lanka government officials and with the local business people.
Dudley Thambinayagam, who functions as Estonia’s honorary consular in Sri Lanka says, it was the first trade and investment delegation to visit the Island from the EU country.
They have also met with the Sri Lankan Port Officials.
Sri Lanka Ports Authority says, Estonia promised to extend the fullest assistance in all possible ways for the on going developmental work taking place in the Island’s maritime sector.
The EU country has also discussed about developing more cruise services between both destinations to promote two way bilateral tourism.
“They will look to send their cruise ships to Sri Lanka via Singapore”, added Thambinayagam.
He also said, the Estonian Consulate in the Island will be working towards taking a Sri Lankan trade and investment delegation to that country in the near future.
