Indian Intelligence Units say the counterfeit currency mafia is using Sri Lanka as a new transit point, says a media report.
The report says the fake currencies printed in Pakistan reach Sri Lanka from where they are transported by sea or air to Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
An Official of the Organized Crime Wing of the Crime Branch of India has said that mostly these notes are transported to India via fishing boats or by air.
The Official has pointed out that these currencies are printed in Pakistan and the sole objective behind these fake currencies is to disturb the Indian economy.
Migrant workers are used to circulate these notes to different parts of India, the report added.
