West Indies national cricket coach Ken Williams has said that the country’s mystery spinner Sunil Narine will not fade away as Sri Lanka’s Ajantha Mendis who also was a sensation at the start of his career.
Williams speaking to Newsday.co however has said, Narine still needs to add more variations to ensure his mystery is not solved as quickly as Mendis.
“He has got to develop variations. In international cricket batsmen will work you out so you can fade away if you don’t do that and that is what happened to Mendis. Narine is too smart for that to happen to him, though, but the first two years of his career will be a dream start,” he has told the Newsday.co.
Narine was voted Man-of-the-Series of the just concluded IPL, where his team Kolkata Knight Riders won the competition.
The Trinidadian was fetched by the KKS for a price of US$ 700,000 and he grabbed 24 wickets from 15 matches.
