Finlay Rentokil Ceylon (Private) Limited, a firm engaged in timber preservation and pallet manufacturing, recently obtained the ISO Certification for its Unique Wood Preservation process.
The firm has been given the prestigious ISO 9001: 2008 certification for excellence in Quality Management Systems by the Sri Lanka Standards Institution, certifying timber preservation by a vacuum pressure impregnation process and using wood preservatives.
Rentokil, in a statement issued says, the vacuum impregnation process for timber preservation is positioned as a service provider to the construction industry, as it protects the timber from all wood destroying agents such as wood borers, fungi and termites.
The firm says, the process is unique.
“The preservatives that are used are registered in Sri Lanka with Registrar of Pesticides and are approved for preservation of timber. The treated timber is therefore safe for use” further added the firm in its statement issued.
Ranil Jayawardene, Manager of the Rentokil’s timber preservation and pallet manufacturing divisions says, the long term preservation of timber not only reduces overall costs but also helps reduce the need for further felling as the timber lasts longer.
The timber preservation division of Finlay Rentokil commenced commercial operations in 1992, under the license from Celcure SDN BHD , Malayasia.
Celcure are manufactures of plants and wood preservatives, and chemicals, for preservation of wood.
Finlay Rentokil Ceylon is also engaged in providing other services such as, hygiene services and medical waste disposal etc.
