Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak has been asked to spend the rest of his life in a jail following a 10 month trial which begun after he was thrown out of office during last year.
His fate was sealed today in a court room in Egypt, when the judge after announcing the decision ordered to send him to a Cairo maximum security prison.
Mubarak was sentenced to life in prison for his role in the killing of pro-reform demonstrators.
The former President was once a powerful figure in the Arab world and came into power in 1980 following the killing of Egypt’s then President Anwar Sadat by a militant group.
After in power for 30 long years, he was forced to vacate the office by the Egyptian people during last year who held mass scale demonstrations demanding him to leave office.
He is 84 years old.
