Posted by A US based shoe manufacture Icon Shoes is now promoting a shoe which depicts the image of Lord Buddha which has resulted in the Tibetan and the Buddhist community protesting against the firm.
A search on the Icon Shoes website shows the company promoting a shoe depicting the image of Lord Buddha, which is named as “Thangka of the Buddha”
A foreign media report says, Tibetans and Bhutanese Buddhists have already written to the company, to express their disgust.
“They have flooded the company’s Face book page with protest notes” added the news report.
They have demanded the firm to withdraw the shoes from its catalogue.
“I really think you should stop manufacturing the shoes with Buddha’s imprint… it is totally against Buddhist sentiment,” wrote one Tshewant Gyeltshen on the company’s Facebook page.
“I am Buddhist. Your idea of putting Lord Buddha’s image on footwear is unethical,” said one Yoezer Gempo.

Buddhists never insult the other religions and they are the most peaceful people.Designers from ICON look like stupid and cunning.Population of Christians or Muslims are much more than Buddhists.Instead of using the image of Buddha they should have used the picture of Jesus Christ or Mohamed. But they have not courage to do this.It is obvious that it is a big insult to all Buddhists.How do you feel if somebody printed pictures of Jesus Christ or Mohamed on the toilet seats and toilet papers.

This is a biggest insult for Buddhists and the religion. Like Khin Nyunt has said “Buddhists never insult the other religions”. It’s true we never insult other religions. The image on the shoes…it’s shocking for all of us. Well, the company has to pay for this and you will be very soon punished in either ways.
we are Buddhist, did we insult or done bad things about your religions.? Instead we treat all religions are equal… . I think those who are working under that company are not human being and don’t have sense of feeling also. Forget about printing on shoe, lattime one of the soccer club logo is about christains image, during that time, those who belongs to that religion are very sad.
So, how mean that company printing our buddha on shoe….. Please make sure all those shoes, which have buddha printed should vanise as soon as possible.
damn, y this company has to use Buddha’s image to promote their products….is this the kind of marketing strategy that the company follows? if it does, then let me b very clear that this company will not survive in the market….its really disgusting and embarrassing….definitely, this company should be sued…..
Unfortunately Buddha image is not a registered trademark and anyone can use it as they wish. Although a non-Buddhist, coming from Sri Lanka I am disgusted to see Buddha statues being used and decorations in restaurants, bars and even other such shady places as a decorative item. Needless to say it is being used as an ornament in many homes in western countries. Rather than demanding the company to remove the logo which should be done is to launch a massive campaign boycotting these shoes. Young people today are extremely sensitive to issues like this and once they learn that the actions of the company offends many peaceful and poor Buddhist people all over the world they are sure to side with them.
I’m so sad that the “Light of Asia” is on anybody’s shoes, He is the son of Nepal, where he was born, Today i’m so sad to know that the ugly face of brand did this type of work. not only Buddhist; people from Nepal of every religion respect this Light. really this is too much. Plz respect every religious icon.
Just thinking of doing this big sin, this man will rot in hell. If he has the courage,he should dare to put his face on these shoes and we will show him how we will wear it and smash his face by our feet. Business done to hurt other human beings sentiment is also a big crime. An apology is needed.

I want to say that plz dont use Buddha photo in shoes and sandle thats make me angry .I cannot tolerate that .Why you put Buddha photo at shoes as a promotion ? You,shoe maker, remember what happened to those who ordered Bahamian Buddhist statures to be destroyed. All have been brutally killed by your military. That is how the nature punishes people like you.

We all have our God, so nobody likes to keep their God image on their shoe. We have to keep them in our Heart. So, I kindly request to US Shoe manufacturing company to cancel this production and show their respect up on others. Self respect is the greatest respect.
