Mid Wicket region is marked in green

The Twenty20 World Cup which will be kicked off from Hambantota this evening will provide Sri Lanka Tourism the opportunity to place its logo in the Mid wicket area of the ground, where the matches will be played.

Sri Lanka Tourism says this is a massive opportunity for Sri Lanka Tourism as the move will help promote the Island across the globe.

“The mid-wicket logo will provide much visibility to Sri Lanka country branding and with the added advantage of multiple views through live cast attracting audience’s attention to the country as a whole” added a statement issued by Sri Lanka Tourism.

Officials says, this has been made possible following the selection of Sri Lanka Tourism as the official tourism partner of the ICC World Twenty20.

The agreement towards this has been signed last week between the Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tourism B.S. Gunaratne and Campbell Jemison, General Manager Commercial of the ICC.

“Apart from the ground logos other benefits arising from the association will include sponsorship rights for tournament branding, event signage, exclusive product branding, video promotions during match telecast, event rights including stadia displays , electronic media coverage etc” added the statement issued by Sri Lanka Tourism .

Officials expect the T20 World cup will help Sri Lanka promote the Island to billions of viewers spread across the globe.

Sri Lanka’s Tourism industry is experiencing a steady growth with authorities planning to bring in 2.5 million tourists per annum by the year 2015.
